Proportional Valve Could Improve Respirators

From Clippard Instrument Laboratory, Inc.

Designers of ventilators, respirators, and blood pressure monitors could benefit from a new proportional pneumatic valve that reportedly offers greater air flow control accuracy. The new valve, introduced by Clippard Instrument Laboratory, Inc. (Cincinnati, OH; www.clippard.com) and known as the EVP, uses a design that incorporates only one moving part to improve accuracy and boost its life. "We have a maximum flow accuracy of ±10%," notes Paul Gant, International Sales Manager. "And at a minimum, we expect its life to be between 200 million and 300 million cycles," he adds. Clippard executives say they foresee the new pneumatic valve being employed in mass flow controllers, gas chromatographs, and anesthesia machines, in addition to respirators and ventilators. The valve's long life could make it particularly desirable in such applications where human lives could depend on its ability to keep operating.

Products & Services
Water valves are designed to handle and control hot water, cold water, ground water, potable water, salt water and/or wastewater. They are made from metal or plastic. Search by Specification | Learn more about Water Valves
Filter, regulator, lubricator (FRL) assemblies are pre-packaged or modular assemblies of common configurations of air filters, regulators, lubricators, and gauges. Search by Specification | Learn more about Filter, Regulator, Lubricator (FRL) Assemblies
Hydraulic valves contain and transfer the flow and pressure of hydraulic fluid in hydraulic power systems. They range from simple shutoff valves to precision control valves. Search by Specification | Learn more about Hydraulic Valves
Gas valves are used to handle and control the flow of gaseous media such as liquefied petroleum and natural gas. They are made of metal or plastic and vary in terms of valve size, pressure rating, number of ports, and flow. Search by Specification | Learn more about Gas Valves
Air valves allow metered fluid flow in one or both directions. They are used in pneumatic circuits to regulate the rate of activation or exhaust of cylinders and other pneumatic devices. Search by Specification | Learn more about Air Valves
