4 Keys to Maximizing Digital Imaging Capture

This installment covers specific types of digital cameras available and ancillary equipment that should be considered to maximize the digital camera's performance in your machine vision application. Area cameras are often used to capture images of stationary objects or objects that move in more than one dimension. The image is provided to the camera as a series of lines composing a frame, and the camera generates a separate signal indicating the start and end of the frame. Common applications for area array cameras include pick and place machines, motion analysis, and lead inspection. Images from an area scan camera will not suffer from blurring as long as object's motion during the exposure period of the sensor array is not significant.

Products & Services
Charge injection device (CID) cameras are used in analytical instrumentation, industrial machine vision, medical, scientific and aerospace applications. Learn more about CID Cameras
Machine vision systems are used for automated inspection and measurement in production environments. Search by Specification | Learn more about Machine Vision Systems
Complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) cameras use image sensors that operate at lower voltages than charged coupled devices (CCDs), reducing power consumption for portable applications. Each CMOS active pixel sensor cell has its own buffer amplifier, and can be addressed and read individually.  Search by Specification | Learn more about CMOS Cameras
Low light cameras are designed for low light applications. They contain sensors that are highly sensitive to light and reduce images to a series of lines. Search by Specification | Learn more about Low Light Cameras
UV cameras have image sensors that detect light in the ultraviolet (UV) range. They are used to spot defects in industrial applications and as imagers in scientific applications. Learn more about UV Cameras
