Chemical Applications: Sonolator Application Card - Carbon Black Dispersions

From Sonic Corporation

Sonic's Sonolator high-pressure homogenizing systems have been widely used to disperse carbon black pigments. Carbon black is quite popular due to its permanence, tinting strength, opacity and small particle size, as small as 10 millimicrons. Carbon black particles tend to fuse together into aggregates that are difficult to disperse, those with carbon-oxygen complexes are easier to disperse. Carbon black is commonly used in paints, enamels, printing inks, nylon and plastic colorings, latex mixtures, wax mixtures, photo coatings, and more. In many cases dispersing agents are used to assist in the break down of fused particulates

Products & Services
Industrial mixers use a shaft, screw, blades, ribbons, impellers or propellers to mix industrial materials such as adhesives, chemicals, construction materials, minerals, coatings and paints. Search by Specification | Learn more about Industrial Mixers
Crushers and mills are used to reduce chemicals, materials or other products to a desired particle or aggregate size range. Search by Specification | Learn more about Crushers and Mills
Rotor-stator mixers are single-shaft mixers with an impeller rotating in close proximity to a stationary housing. They are used to rapidly break apart solid particles in a liquid, or to emulsify a liquid into liquids. Search by Specification | Learn more about Rotor-Stator Mixers
Pulverizers are machines that grind materials into fine powders, tiny shards, shapes, or granules on a continuous basis. Often, they are used to process items that are 2 inches (5 cm) in size Search by Specification | Learn more about Pulverizers
Static or motionless mixers are fins, obstructions, or channels mounted in pipes, designed to promote mixing as fluid flows through the mixer. Search by Specification | Learn more about Static Mixers
