Power Management Case Study
From airbeewireless.com
A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) comprises several sensor nodes that are equipped with microcontrollers and transceivers. The sensor nodes operate on battery power and the amount of available energy is limited. Though the batteries are expected to last for two years (as supported by ZigBee for low power short range wireless sensor networks), optimal utilization of battery power will result in the longevity of the sensor nodes. The utility of sensor nodes in typical sensing tasks such as temperature, light, vibration, sound, radiation, etc. is phenomenal and collection of real-time data is mandatory. So, failure tolerance is almost nil. Moreover, as the energy supply is scarce and most often the battery of a sensor node is not rechargeable, the need to prolong the lifetime of a sensor node has a deep impact on the system and networking architecture.

Products & Services
ZigBee® chips are cost-effective, standards-based, wireless networking chips that provide low data-rates, low-power consumption, security, and reliability.
RF and wireless chips are integrated circuits (IC) that are designed specifically for radio frequency (RF), microwave, and other wireless communications or data transmission applications.
Network design and development services design network topologies and ensure that all network devices can communicate with one another.
Distributed control systems (DCS) use decentralized elements or subsystems to control distributed processes or complete manufacturing systems.
IC interfaces are semiconductor chips that are used to control and manage the sharing of information between devices.
