You design a part, build prototype tooling and test the prototype parts. You're going to get exactly the same part from the production tool . . . correct? Not necessarily. The transition from prototype tool to production tool can be fraught with problems. There's a wide gamut of issues that must be considered, including construction materials, gate design, venting, and runner design. Sometimes, you'll know after the first shot in the production tool that you have problems because the tool failed to fill properly, shrinkage rates varied from prototype tests, parts warped, or cosmetic surfaces were marred by sink marks. And then again, you might not discover damaging problems until four to six months later when you get a call at 4 a.m. from your QC manager in Souchou, China. Products & Services
Nut runner controllers are matched with nut runners in precision fastening and assembly applications in which torque control is important. Both electric and pneumatic devices are available.
Silicone molding services produce molded components made from silicone or liquid silicone rubber.
Wire forming services stamp and bend wire into fabricated shapes such as clips, springs, specialty pins, rings, wire racks, hooks, and other products.
Tool and die makers manufacture progressive tooling, stamping dies, jigs, fixtures, and other tooling.
Tool posts are used to hold cutting tools. They allow for rapid tool changeover and provide a high degree of position repeatability and indexing.
