There is an increasing demand for joysticks. Managing director of elobau, Michael Hetzer, can see the trend in his order books: "Our joysticks are used to a high degree in various industrial vehicles - in tractors and forklift trucks, to name just two examples. "The advantages of these easy-tooperate control elements have also been noticed in the mechanical engineering sector, where they are used, for example, for teach-in programming of articulated robots and for special tasks at printing machines and other automatic machines." elobau, a specialist in machine safety, switches and sensors, began including joysticks in its product range a few years ago. On the one hand, there is the 'small' series, which includes two-axis J2 and one-axis J3 joysticks which, due to their size, can be operated with fingers only. On the other hand, it offers the robust J4 and J5 joysticks, which can withstand stronger handling. As well as their large size, they are distinguished by their high static resilience of 2,000N at the tip of the 190mm-long lever (J4) and 1,000N (J5) in the x and y-axes. They are both designed for 700N in the z-axis.
