Unicode Fonts to Display International Characters on Qlarity-Based Terminals

From QSI Corporation

This application note will demonstrate how to display text on Qlarity-based terminal in languages other than English. It is assumed that you are familiar with the basics of Qlarity™ and Qlarity Foundry™. Terms used in the document:

Font - A set of printable or displayable text characters in a specific style and size. ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) - Most common format for text files on a computer. ASCII has 128 possible characters including all of the English alphabet and numerical characters. Extended ASCII - Adds an additional 128 possible characters to standard ASCII. Most accented characters in the alphabets of Latin-based languages reside in this range (example: ë ? ?). Unicode - A standard for including characters from multiple languages in one font. Nearly every character of every language has a Unicode representation. When developing Qlarity applications for non Latin-based languages, you will usually use Unicode fonts.
