From Mastering Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2007
INTRODUCTIONAs a design scheme progresses, it is often desirable to begin including more detail in the articulation of Walls, Doors, and Windows. We have stressed throughout the book that ADT is designed to allow us to add objects with little detail early in the design cycle and progressively refine our design as more information becomes known. In the last chapter, we took an exhaustive look at Wall styles and Wall Endcaps. In this chapter, we will focus on Door and Window styles. In addition, we will fine-tune the placement of Doors and Windows, both along the Walls they are anchored to and within the thickness of the Walls as well. We'll also take a look at Multi-View Block content. OBJECTIVESIn this chapter, we will refine the masonry shell of the Commercial Project and continue to work on first and second floors of the Residential Project. Now that styles have been applied to all of the Walls, we will shift our focus to fenestration. In the commercial shell file, we will adjust the placement of the Windows within the walls and look at the Sill Plan Display Representation. Returning to the Residential Project and some ancillary sample files, we will explore the features of the Door and Window styles. The chapter will conclude by finishing the residential floor plans with the creation of a custom Multi-View Block for the second floor bathroom.
