Adhesives Survey Report (.pdf)
From sauereisen.com
According to a survey of product design engineers and general managers at 245 U.S. firms that manufacture heating equipment, the most critical physical properties of cements/adhesives were high temperature resistance, thermal conductivity and electrical resistance. The study also demonstrated that inorganic cements/adhesives, such as those with a silicate, phosphate or calcium aluminate binder system, are deemed superior to other methods (i.e. mechanical fasteners and epoxies) when subjected to high temperature and electrical current1. This report summarizes the findings of the survey, which was conducted in January 2006 by Industrial Research Services, a market research firm located in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. The survey was sponsored by Sauereisen, Inc. (www.sauereisen.com). 1. Rate the importance of the following product attributes when selecting a cement/adhesive to be used in high temperature assembly of instrumentation. 2. What physical properties do you consider critical among your cements/adhesives? 3. Of the following methods of assembly, please indicate each that is used in the high temperature applications of your instrumentation or electrical components. Please answer each yes or no.

Products & Services
Refractory cements and raw materials consist of castables, rams, aggregates and binders that are resistant to high temperatures.
Refractories and high temperature insulation include many different types of ceramic insulation, refractory shapes, and refractory cements.
Specialty cement, concrete and mortar contain specialized binders such as K silicate, calcium aluminate, sulfur, and oxysulfate or polymer resins. They cure or set through film drying (air setting), chemical reactions, thermoset bonds, hydraulic bonds, hot melting, and multiple component binder systems.
Conductive adhesives and compounds provide an electrically and/or thermally conductive path between components.
Laminating adhesives and composite resins are cured using heat and/or heat and pressure.
