Light incident on a diffraction grating is dispersed away from the grating surface at an angle which depends on the wavelength, so a grating can be used to select a narrow spectral band from a much wider band. There are two main methods for selecting a narrow spectral band of light, Littrow and Littman. These methods are shown in Figures 2 and 3. Littman tuning offers higher angular spread and hence narrower spectral feedback; as the angle of incidence is increased toward 90°, however, the efficiency of the grating drops significantly Products & Services
A diffraction grating uses a substrate with parallel grooves to disperse light into its spectra. Eschelles are included in this area.
Optical spectrum analyzers (OSA) can divide a lightwave signal into its constituent wavelengths. This means that it is possible to see the spectral profile of the signal over a certain wavelength range.
Monochromators are optical subassemblies used to isolate narrow portions of a light spectrum. They accept polychromatic input from a lamp or laser, and outputs monochromatic light.
Fiber bragg gratings have a periodically altered refractive index to filter certain wavelengths while allowing others to pass.
Infrared (IR) spectrometers measure the wavelength and intensity of the absorption of infrared light by a sample.
