How to Determine and Specify the Most Appropriate Gas Supply System for Your Laboratory

From Matheson Tri-Gas, Inc.

Before Starting - Determine the Following: Instrument Types, Flow Rates & Delivery Pressures, Purity Requirements, Flexibility of Instrument Placement, Volume of Gases and Types, Centralized or "In-the-Lab", Aesthetic Qualities, 24/7 Operation. Three Key Areas of Design - Determine the Appropriate System for Your Laboratory: Source of Gas Supply, Distribution of Gas, Point-of-Use Control & Delivery. Gas Supply Sources - Bulk, Mini-Bulk (Tonners), Dewars, Cylinders - individual or multi-cylinder manifolds - centralized or in-the-lab, Generators. Source Delivery Methods - Cylinder Regulators, Single & Multi-Station Manifolds, Cylinder "SWITCHOVER" Systems, Generators. Cylinder Regulator Guidelines: It is not necessary to purchase (install) a more expensive two-stage regulator for the cylinder if your gas delivery system will also have regulators installed down stream at the "point-of-use" in the lab. Panel (or Line) regulators located at the "point-of-use" provide the "second stage" of system pressure regulation at the instrument and will perform in the same manner as a two-stage regulator.

Products & Services
Gas pressure regulators reduce the pressure of a gas, as it passes through a cylinder or process line, to another piece of equipment. Regulators are not flow control devices. They are used to control delivery pressure only. Search by Specification | Learn more about Gas Pressure Regulators
Gas cabinets and distribution systems consist of vaporizers, gas cabinets, gas manifolds, mass flow controllers, valves, pressure sensors and associated interconnect tubing configured to deliver bulk and specialty gases to process equipment.
