This application note focuses on the high-speed analysis of xanthine derivatives and triarylmethane ink dyes with Ultra Fast HPLC. The Shim-pack XR-ODS columns, which have 2.2µm particles and can reduce column flow resistance, result in considerably shorter analytical cycle times with systems comprised of conventional hardware, achieving performance similar to commercial sub-2µm columns.
As an example of Ultra-Fast LC, high-speed analyses of xanthine derivatives and triarylmethane dyes are introduced here using ultra fast HPLC with a Shim-pack XR-ODS column.
Figures 1, 3 show chromatograms of xanthine derivatives and triarylmethane dyes, respectively. The analyses were performed in approximately 1 minute by using ultra-fast LC combined with a Shim-pack XR-ODS column. The retention time and peak area reproducibility were excellent as shown in Tables 2 and 4, even when using steep gradient conditions.
Products & Services
Industrial dyes are colorants consisting of single molecules that are able to absorb certain parts of the spectrum of visible light and reflect others. Dyes are soluble in the material in which they are dispersed.
Specialty chromatographs and accessories are specialized or proprietary products related to chromatography and chromatography instruments.
High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns use a liquid mobile phase to separate the components of a mixture.
Solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridges and discs are used to clean up a sample before using a chromatographic or other analytical method to quantify the amount of analyte(s) in the sample.
High performance liquid chromatographs (HPLC) use a liquid mobile phase to separate the components of a mixture. The components are dissolved in a solvent and forced to flow through a chromatographic column under high pressure.
