HVAC Damper Shrouds

Handling Description: Grip and hold dampers while operators install a shroud. Needs (Problem): Several operators were trying to assemble shrouds onto the dampers, flipping the parts over and handling sharp edges. Customer needed a way to lift, hold and rotate the dampers as operators install sheet metal shrouds with rivets. Requirements: *?15-150 lbs. payload weight *?10-48" wide x 10-76" long x 3.7" thick dampers *?16-32" deep shrouds *?grip area is on the dampers top and bottom lip, within the shroud cover *?dampers held steady during assembly *?no accidental release or lowering of dampers during assembly *?assembly area is under an existing bridge crane Solutions: Positech WM200 manipulator with an air motor screw drive gripper and interchangeable jaw sets. Manual rotation through the horizontal axis, vertical axis caliper brakes, and an operator's control pendant. Several safety circuits including gripper safety, lift allowed and innerfacing with a customer supplied workcell safety curtain.
