Handling Description: Placing and removing shrouds from a funnel. Problems: Extreme heat environment and payload had heavy wear and tear on the manipulator. It was taken out of service a few years ago and had been stripped of parts to service similar units in use within the facility. Restrictions: ??Customer had to take advantage of limited budget to fulfill needs of a new work cell. ??Foundry environment, extreme temperatures and molten metal were factors that also came into play Solutions: POSITECH PARTNERSHIP PLUS enabled the rebuilding of the customer Model TPA-15 manipulator. This included: ??A new remote mounted hydraulic enclosure and operators controls. ??Heat and dust resistant sleeves, enclosure insulation and a lift cylinder boot. ??The repairing or replacing of the forearm spacer, tool rotation joint, gripper tool with steel coped jaws, hydraulic hoses, control cables, lift cylinder, lock valve, bearings, seals and other necessary components. ??Testing and certification of the manipulator to provide a new unit warranty. ??Start-up supervision and training by Positech personnel.
