Handling Description: Grip the drum in the vertical position on a pallet, lift, pitch to a horizontal position, set down on the floor, then release. Must be able to perform this sequence in reverse. Problems: A new storage area was being created that required compact (vertical) storage of the various drums used at the facility. Low overhead clearance and the variety of drum types required special grip considerations. Restrictions: ? Drums weigh up to 780 lbs. ? Variety of drum styles. ? Restricted overhead clearance and various workcell obstructions. Solution: ? Manipulator model TPA-15 with 780 lbs. payload capacity, 55" of vertical lift and 330 degrees main post rotation. ? Operators' Controls: Twist metering control, push button grip/release with pitch up/down spring counterbalanced - extended "T" band operators' control station. ? Thick, pliable grip pads ? Adjustable grip pressure regulator.
