An Aluminum Company, located in the central United States region has been a state-of-the-art manufacturer of aluminum sheet products in a commodities business since 1983. Their products include the fabrication of rigid container sheet, building products, automotive sheet, distributor sheet, and food can stock. The customer’s manufacturing process takes raw aluminum billets and uses a cold rolling process to produce rolled aluminum goods. Rolling process technology is straightforward and provides little opportunity for improvement or optimization. Cooling stations are required to let the metal cool to 100 degrees after being heated to 225 degrees as a result of the rolling process. A cooling area is set up in the plant with an area about the size of a football field. An overhead crane operator manually monitors the temperature of about 100 rolls to determine when they are cool enough to move. Products & Services
Metal billets, slabs and blooms are large, massive blocks or rounds that are produced from a primary metal or during a recycling process.
Metal sheet is metal or alloy stock supplied or available in the form of sheet or foil. Metal sheet has a thickness between 0.006" and 0.250", and is 24" (609.6 mm) or more in width.
Plate forming services cut, roll, form, and weld metal plates, typically greater than 3/16".
In the forging process, metal is shaped by pressing, pounding, or squeezing under very high pressure, to form parts called forgings. Forging processes include cold forging or heading, impression or closed die, open die, and seamless rolled ring.
Roll forming equipment uses pressure applied by a series of steel rolls or roller dies to form or bend metal.
