MTS Temposonics displacement sensors are utilized in this application because of the need for high performance and continuous repetitious operation under high shock load conditions. Today, as manufacturers and users demand better part quality, repeatability and shorter cycle times, our sensors are favored because of their high resolution and responsiveness. Another advantage is that our sensors enable customers to store preset recipes for a wide variety of sheet metal shapes and sizes thereby reducing startup and changeover times. Application: Position feedback for machine platens on metal forming and shearing presses.

Magnetostrictive position sensors are non-contact linear position sensors that use the momentary interaction of two magnetic fields to produce a strain pulse that moves along a waveguide.
