From Mitsubishi EDM/Laser
Michael Herold was 16 when he started working in his father's stamping and fabrication business. Brothers Pat and Tim also joined the team when they reached 16. The shop had started laser cutting in 1979, with a punch/laser combo. By the time their father sold the company in 1994, Mike, Pat, and Tim had been there full-time for several years after college-long enough to know the industry and to develop ideas and dreams of their own. Herold Precision Metals (HPM) opened its doors in 1997 the company to put those ideas to the test-and so far the company has not only succeeded, it continues to flourish. One fundamental idea is that the company will not use obsolete equipment. From day one, all fabrication machinery has been purchased new. Another belief is that fabrication is more interesting than paperwork, so also from day one, Metalsoft's Fabri-Trak software has been used to help with business operations. Third, HPM also believes that the most interesting work comes to those who learn to exploit the full capabilities of their machines-and that means hiring craftsmen and having an aggressive training program for all shop personnel.
