For more than 25 years, Ron Witherspoon Inc. (RWI) has conducted business with two things in mind: quality and innovation. RWI has earned a high degree of customer loyalty and satisfaction by setting high quality standards and incorporating innovation into every job that comes its way. In 1977, Ron Witherspoon started his business in his garage. Today, RWI employs more than 120 employees and operates from two separate locations. The one facility covers 18,000 sq. ft. and houses the Engineering and Prototype Division. The other became home to the 87,000 sq. ft. Production Division in September 2002. With 29 EDM machines company-wide, RWI is one of the largest EDM job shops. As a result, RWI has more in-house capabilities than most shops. Aside from wire and sinker EDM, other machine work done in RWI's shop includes CNC milling (vertical, horizontal and 5-axis), manual lathe, CNC lathe, mill/turn and screw machining. EDM Department Manager, Brian Pagano, adds, "Customers like a one-stop shop. Jobs come to us because we're Products & Services
EDM machining services remove metal by burning instead of cutting or grinding. There are three basic types of electro discharge machining (EDM) operations: electrode EDM, wire EDM, and small-hole EDM.
Electrical discharge machines (EDM) remove metal from a workpiece by using a series of electric sparks to erode material.
EDM tooling, electrodes, fixtures, materials, guides and other supplies are used in electrical discharge machining (EDM), a highly-accurate manufacturing process for creating shapes within components and assemblies.
EDM electrode materials and components consist of highly conductivity and/or arc erosion resistant materials such as graphite, copper or copper graphite.
CNC tool changers allow a machine to perform more than one function without requiring an operator to change the tooling.
