Power Plant SCR Units and Ammonia Safety Measures

From Sensidyne, LP

Selectrive Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems will be installed on 100,000 MW of U.S. coal-fired generating capacity by 2004. SCR investment for Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) control will be the largest for any control strategy implemented to date. Many oil and gas-fired generating stations, industrial boilers, co-generation, and combined cycle plants already use SCR or SNCR systems to comply with current and future NOx emission standards.

An SCR system is installed in the flue work, often between the economizer and the air heater. An ammonia injection area is followed by a reactor section downstream, which contains catalyst layers to enhance the NOx reduction. The use of the catalyst means that system will function at much lower flue gas temperatures. Soot-blowers or other cleaning measures are utilized in the reactor, depending upon the degree of dust loading.

Products & Services
Gas detectors and gas sensors interact with a gas to initiate the measurement of its concentration. The detector or sensor then provides output to an instrument to display the measurements. Search by Specification | Learn more about Gas Detectors and Gas Sensors
Combustion analyzers and flue gas analyzers measure the gas content of emissions in order to monitor the combustion efficiency of fuel-burning equipment. Learn more about Combustion Analyzers
Gas transmitters consist of an enclosure, sensor, and electronics that convert a signal from a gas sensor into an analog output signal (typically 4-20 mA). Search by Specification | Learn more about Gas Transmitters
Gas instruments detect, monitor or analyze gases present in an environment. Search by Specification | Learn more about Gas Instruments
