From World Lasers, Inc.
As the medical industry continues to demand smaller and more intricate components and devices, so the challenge for manufacturing them increases. One specific aspect that has been successfully tackled by the fiber laser is the processing of fine wires. The need to join fine wires has grown significantly over recent years and the medical industry has provided some challenging applications.
Fine wires are used for a number of applications from leads for electrical connections to joining of wires for a variety of insertable devices. Laser welding of fine wires, as small as 100micron, can be achieved in a number of ways including butt welds (when wanting to weld two wires together) and lap welds (often used to join adjacent wires). Also spot welding can be used when joining a wire to another part or component.

The purpose of an encoder is to act as a position feedback device as part of an integrated control system. The encoder is an electro-optomechanical device that attaches to a rotating shaft providing...
Optical encoders are critical components in systems with rotating shafts or parts. Most optical encoders operate on the same basic principle. A light source projects a beam of light through a grid or...
On every factory, and on every shop floor, something is rotating and someone wants to monitor it. Enter the optical rotary encoder. Encoders transform mechanical rotary motion into a sequence of...
Rotary and linear optical encoders are common in position and motion sensing. Here, a disc or plate containing opaque and transparent segments passes between an LED and detector to interrupt a light...
The Optical Encoders typically consist of a rotating and a stationary member. The rotor is usually a metal, glass, or a plastic disc mounted on the encoder shaft. The disc has some kind of optical...
