From Solvay Advanced Polymers
When selecting materials for use in hot water plumbing systems, it is important to consider how the physical and mechanical properties of the various thermoplastic resins are affected by exposure to hot water. This can be evaluated by monitoring the mechanical properties of the polymer after aging in a controlled hot water environment for prolonged periods of time. Such a study has been conducted and is reported here. The following unfilled materials were evaluated: 1) UDEL® P-1700 polysulfone (PSU) ASTM test specimens made for each resin were aged in 60°C (140°F) and 90°C (194°F) water for up to 16,000 hours. Periodic mechanical testing was conducted. Products & Services
