From Philadelphia Gear Corporation
Aggregate crushing in the process of cement manufacturing is critical in that any crushing downtime necessarily halts cement production. To minimize any such unscheduled downtime, meet insurance requirements, or both, requires having access to a spare crusher gear drive. This is more often than not the only practical solution. Replacing a failed drive gear with a readily available spare unit will minimize process interruption and subsequent loss of revenue. If a gear drive has been properly preserved, re-commissioning should be relatively straightforward and pose little risk to the equipment. In such cases, turnaround replacement time consists of the time it takes to remove the old unit, install and align the replacement unit, fill the new unit with a fresh charge of lubricating oil and run the system.
