VOC-Control Options During Wastewater Treatment
From Environmental Management: Wastewater and Groundwater Treatment

During wastewater collection and treatment, an array of chemicals, solvents, and byproducts — many of them volatile organic compounds (VOCs) — are combined. As a result, VOC emissions produced or liberated during onsite wastewater collection and treatment are often a major contributor to overall pollution at the facility. This article1 discusses common end-of-pipe methods for treating VOCs encountered during wastewater treatment.

Downstream VOC control
In general, there are two basic approaches to handling VOC-laden wastewater:

1. Transfer the VOCs from the wastewater into a second phase, then recover or destroy them in the second phase.

Products & Services
Gas sensors interact with a gas to initiate the measurement of its concentration. The sensor then provides output to an instrument to display the measurements.
pH and oxidation reduction potential (ORP) instruments measure or monitor pH (relative concentration of hydrogen ions [H+] in a solution) as well as ORP.
Clarifiers and screens are used to remove solids from liquids through gravity settling or a mechanical screening process.
Adsorption equipment removes contaminants from gases and liquids by means of chemical adsorption.
Softeners remove the hard calcium and magnesium minerals from water .
