By Nick Phillips, CH2M Hill Lockwood Greene Every pharmaceutical manufacturing plant features an area in which raw materials are weighed and transferred to clean containers. This area goes by various names, including Weighing, Weighroom, Central Weigh, Pharmacy, Dispensary, Dispensing, Fractionation and Subdivision. No matter what it’s called, its design is essential. This article outlines some best practices for design, layout and operation of these areas. Three basic principles should drive the design of any pharmaceutical weighroom: In the past, convenience dictated the placement of weighrooms, traditionally located right near warehouses where materials were stored. Today, the weighroom is viewed as the entry point to manufacturing and the transition point for materials coming from the warehouse and entering process areas, so specific criteria will determine the best location. The typical weighroom is made up of three sections: raw material

Products & Services
Quick Disconnect Cordsets
Quick disconnect cordsets are special power connectors that incorporate a quick-connect mating geometry, typically by twisting and seating for positive contact. These devices are used on machinery and equipment for safety purposes.
Electrical and Electronic Design Services
Electrical and electronic design services are performed by companies that design hardware for analog and digital circuits, components, devices, and systems. The hardware's primary purpose can be transmission of energy or transmission of information. To perform this work, companies have skilled electrical, electronic, and similarly-trained engineers on staff.
Flow and Pressure (Fluid Dynamics) Testing Services
Flow and pressure (fluid dynamics) testing services evaluate the flow, pressure and fluid dynamics of components and products such as radiators, heater cores, lines and bottles.
Environmental Exposure (Climatics) Testing Services
Environmental exposure (climatics) testing services use humidity, pressure, temperature, vibration, exposure to ultraviolet light (UV) and other climatic variables to test samples, parts and components, and finished products.
Loop Powered Devices
Loop powered devices are modules and computer boards which are powered by the system they serve. They derive their power from the input current loop instead of from an external or additional power source.
