What Matters is the Inside! - Modern Rotating Unions Reduce Maintenance Intervals

In general, rotating unions are passive machine parts which transfer media into or through rotating machine parts. Some examples: water for maintaining the temperature of the printing inc, thermal oil in plastics machines, cooling water in continuous casting machines, coolants in machine tools, hydraulic oil in handling machines etc.
Some machine operators or maintenance personnel may think: "The fluid has to get into the rotating part and out again. Rotating unions, sealing heads, joints and however they are called; all these things nearly look the same and are all of equal sealing performance..." "Judging a book by its cover" this seems right, but after a short time the differences between the rotating unions used are already noticeable: While some feature a long service life, others must be replaced at short intervals and this always involves stoppage of the machine.
