Operating Flow Rates Backwash systems are used to regenerate the ionic species that drive the exchange process.  The timing and frequency of these actions can be controlled either manually or through a variety of automatic means ranging from regularly scheduled operation, total volume flow, chemical sensor feedback, etc.
   Continuous Flow Rate       This is the flow rate when the system is running at an optimal, steady-state condition. Because these systems often run discontinuously, it is important to design them for the most efficient use and to account for periods of peak flow.
