   Capacitive Sensing       Capacitive robotic sensors are able to detect almost any object it comes in proximity with. The sensor generates a flux field that reflects a frequency when in close proximity to an object. 
   Infrared Sensor       Infrared detectors use long wavelength light to sense objects or obstructions. Surface shape, color, reflection, and density all effect the operation of an infrared sensor. 
   Radar       Sensor emits radar wave, which is reflected by surface and returned to sensor. Speed and distance are determined by measuring frequency difference (Doppler Effect). 
   Sonar / Acoustic       An acoustic proximity sensor works on the same principle as sonar. Coded pulses are transceived and the delay time is measured. This delay time is translated into distance so the controller can avoid obstacles. 
   Ultrasonic Sensing       Sensor emits an ultrasonic pulse, which is reflected by surface and returned to sensor. Speed is determined by measuring frequency difference (Doppler Effect). 
   Vision System       A sensor that "sees" the object and is programmed to avoid it. This is an emerging technology. 
   Other       Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary sensors.
