About

The Position and Motion Sensor Specialist

POSITAL  is a leading manufacturer of position and motion sensors. Focusing on absolute and incremental rotary encoders, inclinometers and linear draw wire sensors, POSITAL currently offers over 100,000 unique sensors. With sales and R&D offices in North America, Europe and Asia, global support is available for customers big and small alike.

IXARC Roray Encoders

The recent launch of the IXARC high precision rotary encoderexpands the applications in which rotary encoders can be used. Combining the reliability of magnetic encoders with the speed and high resolution of traditional optical units, IXARC sensors offer both incremental and absolute positioning for motor feedback, mobile machinery and many other fields.

As an industry leader, POSITAL sensors are available in a wide range of interfaces. Using the online product finder, users can easily sort through different electrical interfaces, flange, resolution and connection options. Interfaces currently available include most common Ethernet (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCat, MODBUS, Powerlink), fieldbus (CANopen, DeviceNet, PROFIBUS), SSI, analog and others.

TILTIX Group

TILTIX Inclinometers

TILTIX inclinometers provide dual axis outputs with up to 0.001° resolution. Ideal for mobile machinery, these are available with an IP69K rating for high pressure and temperature washdown. TILTIX inclinometers have successfully been implemented in solar facilities, mobile machinery, healthcare and industrial automation in both positioning and safety applications.

LINARIX Group

LINARIX Draw Wire Sensors

LINARIX draw wire sensors are commonly used in applications that require linear motion to be monitored for system control or to ensure safety. Compared to conventional linear potentiometers or string pots, LINARIX sensors are more durable and easier to configure according to customer’s need. The sensors are pre-calibrated, scalable, have long lifetime and can monitor position even when powered off by using absolute rotary encoders.

FRABA Group

As part of the FRABA group, POSITAL can trace its knowledge of encoders back over fifty years. Also part of the FRABA group is the VITECTOR brand which specializes in safety assurance equipment for industrial doors, gates and manufacturing enviornments.

How Does an Optical Encoder Work? (Encoders and Resolvers) The Optical Encoders typically consist of a rotating and a stationary member. The rotor is usually a metal, glass, or a plastic disc mounted on the encoder shaft. The disc has some kind of optical... (View Full Article)
Pros and Cons of Absolute vs. Incremental Rotary Encoders (Encoders and Resolvers) An incremental encoder simply generates pulses proportional to the position. The principle of the incremental measuring system is the scanning of a line pattern on a glass or plastic disc (see Image... (View Full Article)
