About
Spectrum Sensors & Controls Inc., a subsidiary of Spectrum Control, Inc., designs and manufactures precision position sensors, temperature sensors and inertial measurement systems. The Precision Position Sensors Operation, formerly JDK Controls, is located in Grass Valley, CA and was founded in 1983, while the Advanced Thermal Products Operation, formally Advanced Thermal Products, was founded in 1985 and is located in St. Marys, PA. The precision inertial measurement products operation is located just outside of Cleveland, OH at the former Summit Instruments. Spectrum Sensors has low cost, world class manufacturing centers in both China and Mexico to provide their customers with application specific solutions worldwide. Precision Position Sensors and Transducers Features/Benefits
The Precision Position Sensors operation is a leader in serving applications where reliability and precision in the potentiometer and position sensor is critical to the user’s system. Spectrum Sensors & Controls manufactures precision co-molded conductive plastic potentiometers and position sensors and transducers. All of their products are designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with MIL-R-39023 and Quality Assurance with MIL-I-45208A. Spectrum also produces ultra precise, non-contact Hall Effect position sensors, which feature absolute linearity of ±0.1% and are qualified to RTCA/DO-160F aircraft standards. Standard sizes include 1/2" (12.7 mm), 7/8" (22.23 mm) and 7/8" (22.23 mm) dual (double redundant), with high temperature and custom versions available.
Temperature Sensing Products Features/Benefits
Inertial Measurement Systems Spectrum’s digital and analog accelerometers provide complete design flexibility with a choice of uniaxial, biaxial or triaxial configurations, as well as customizable g range, bandwidth and data output. Digital accelerometers utilize analog-to-digital (A/D) converters, ensuring the output is a true digital signal ready for direct input to your computer. With sampling speeds up to 42,500 samples/sec/channel, these digital accelerometers meet the speed requirements of most applications. Spectrum’s ruggedized analog accelerometers use silicon capacitive mass MEMS technology to measure accelerations to ±100g along with internal temperature in a package of approximately one cubic inch. Additionally, analog accelerometers use a 50-point calibration for NIST traceable results. Rate gyros, available in triaxial and uniaxial configurations, measure rotation rate ranges from ±50°/sec up to ±600°/sec or ±1200°/sec, depending on application needs. With high accuracy and linearity over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, these rugged-construction gyros are built to customer specifications, meeting exact configurations required for your measurements. With complete six degrees of freedom and telemetry kits, Spectrum Sensors’ inertial measurement systems for stores separation and compatibility testing are completely self-contained and require no power from the aircraft undergoing testing. These easy-to-use systems can be installed and configured in under 20 minutes, and can include wireless telemetry transmitters, which are IRIG-106 compliant. Configurable sensor parameters and telemetry settings offer quick and easy changes on the flight line. All systems include Li-Ion battery packs and optional frequency selectable telemetry transmitters. Their ICU (Instrument Configuration Utility) software is used to configure all sensors and communications and will automatically generate TMATS files. |
