Strongwell is the world's largest pultrusion company and the recognized leader in the pultrusion industry. Strongwell has pultruded fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structural products since 1956 and today offers unequaled capacity, versatility and flexibility to meet the needs of its customers and allied partners. Here are a few specific reasons you should select Strongwell as your FRP manufacturer of choice.
Reliable, Long-Term Supplier
Strongwell has an outstanding track record of stable ownership and management, excellent debt-free financial strength and a well-branded business reputation. Strongwell is the largest pultruder in the world and offers an ongoing reliable, long-term source for fiberglass products. All land, buildings and equipment are owned assets.
Manufacturing Capacity and Flexibility
As a testament of our capacity we have produced over 1 billion linear feet of ladder rail since 1959. Strongwell operates 62 pultrusion machines within 645,000 square feet of space using well- trained and highly-competent operators. This affords great flexibility in capacity and manpower to handle the high volume peaks and periods of low demand that characterize the construction market. Strongwell has significant existing capacity and the ability to expand very quickly. Strongwell designs and builds its own pultrusion machines, dies and auxiliary tooling, which reduces long lead times for special requirements.
Strongwell is not only a pultruder, but also a structural fabricator, a machine shop, and offers several value-added operations. It has the capabilities to undertake any operations that may be needed, up to and including assembling finished products.
Assurance of Quality
All three (3) Strongwell manufacturing locations (Bristol, Virginia; Chatfield, Minnesota; and Highlands, Virginia) are ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified which supports assurance of quality and on-time shipments. Quality isn’t just a word, it’s a standard Strongwell maintains through rigorous testing of its products.
Strong Research & Development and Engineering Support
Strongwell has a 10,000 square-foot, fully-staffed laboratory capable of conducting nearly all ASTM or other mechanical testing on its products. Technical support is offered from design, process and structural engineers to assist in technology advancement and product development. Strongwell has working relationships with multiple academic engineering partners in testing the behavior of FRP products and how FRP has lower environmental carbon footprint when compared to traditional materials.
