3M™ Glass Bubbles with Functional Coatings-Image

The coatings are either bonded to the surface of the bubble or chemically react with the surface to modify or functionalize the surface. For example, bifunctional silane coupling agents can be applied to the surface of 3M glass bubbles. One end of the silane molecule will bond to the glass bubble; the other end of the molecule can either bond to the polymer or associate with the polymer. This chemical bridge provides improved physical properties of the composite - especially tensile, elongation and stiffness properties.

Coated 3M glass bubbles can be customized for your application, and are now available for sampling and evaluation. If you are interested in learning more, or would like to request a sample, please contact us for more details.
