Overview: Plano-convex lenses are primarily used for focusing parallel rays of light to a spot. The asymmetry between the front and back surfaces minimizes spherical aberration effectively, especially when the object and image are not equidistant from the lens. The ideal scenario is when the object is at infinity (parallel rays entering the lens) and the image is at the focus, resulting in an infinite conjugate ratio (object distance/image distance). The curved surface of the lens should face the object direction.
