Application expertise in:
- Machine Tool CNC Retrofitting
- Variable Speed Drive Systems
- Dynamometer Drive Systems
- Alternative Energy Applications
- PLC Retrofits
- Motion Control
For over 30 years Galco's engineering staff has been providing industrial control solutions for systems requiring precision speed, torque, and position control. Ford Motor Company, GM Tool and Die, TRW, Lubrizol, NTS, Michigan State University, and GM Powertrain all represent examples of customers whose needs are continuously being served by Galco Engineering staff.
Machine Availability, Performance, and Quality are the three measurable components that drive Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
By retrofitting an aging, unreliable or feature-limited CNC, the costs associated with machine maintenance and downtime can be reduced. New life and enhanced productivity can be realized by retrofitting a high-value machine tool asset to a new FANUC FA America CNC.
As a result of retrofitting, less time is spent with setup, programming, and maintenance resulting in greater uptime and output.
With high-performance FANUC HViS servo systems, higher feedrates and lower acceleration / deceleration times can be achieved. Machine mechanical and electrical capabilities can be improved through ballbar analysis and servo optimization tuning resulting in improved OEE.
Galco's experienced engineering staff delivers complete turnkey engineered systems. From electrical schematic designs using AutoCAD to custom screen development and control or drive programming, Galco’s engineering staff adheres to best-in-class practices and standards.
Close communications with the customer are maintained throughout the design and development phase to discuss project status updates, deliverables and performance expectations. Galco's engineering staff maintains our library of programming tools to stay up-to-date on the latest revisions.
Galco's engineering staff is supported by our UL Panel Shop where we build, wire, and test the control and drive systems. This allows Galco to maintain complete control of in-process manufacturing tasks. Our control panels include these features as standard practices:
- Tagged Wires
- Components labeled on subplate
- Seperated AC and DC wires
- Fused Disconnects
- Completed Electrical Prints generated using AutoCAD
- Spare Panel Space
- Plexiglas finger safe fuse covers
Installation, startup, and aftermarket support are key elements of our successful growth and satisfied customer base. Working in partnership with our customers we take a flexible approach on managing projects. Galco Engineering's role can vary from delivering a complete turnkey project, or partner with the customer and share specific tasks required to complete the project.
Level 1 Project: Full Turnkey, whereby Galco Engineering is responsible for the entirety of tasks associated with the project. We will deliver a completed product that was built, wired and tested with the control program installed. Removal (if required) of existing equipment and the installation / wiring of equipment will be provided. Our engineering staff will then execute machine startup and commissioning.
Level 2 Project: This level consists of all the elements of Level 1, with the exception of removal of existing equipment (if required) and installation / wiring.
Level 3 Project: This level is oriented towards a very capable customer that has the skills and knowledge necessary to build and wire panels. Galco Engineering provides the engineering, programming and startup procedures. Material supply is generally limited to high value engineering products, and the customer provides the required control components defined by Galco Engineering. The customer completes panel building, installation and wiring.
