GBD Technology: A whole new level of NdFeB magnets
Featured Product from Hangzhou X-mag Inc.
GBD stands for Grain Boundary Diffusion. It is a technology or process involving the diffusion of heavy rare earth (HRE) elements, such as Dysprosium (Dy) and Terbium (Tb), leading to a desired distribution in the macroscopic and microscopic structure of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets. This technology aims to enhance the high-temperature performance of these magnets by conserving rare and expensive HRE, maintaining the magnet's remanence, and improving its thermal stability.
Process:
- Application of HRE Coating: screen printing, PVD, and rotary coating are utilized to apply coatings of heavy rare earth elements onto the surface of the magnet, each offering unique advantages and control over the diffusion process.
- Heat Treatment for Diffusion and Formation of High-Coercivity Shell: to form a high-coercivity shell.
Highlights:
- Reduced usage of Dy and Tb
- Enhances coercivity, and retains remanence
Key Considerations:
- The geometry of the product
- Thorough evaluation and testing of GBD products
