Enclosure options include: NEMA 4, 4X, 7 and 9. The heavy-duty sand-cast aluminum enclosure has a thermally bonded ultraviolet resistant polyester powder coating that not only enhances its appearance but also is a tough corrosion resistant coating. Anodizing and epoxy coatings are offered as well.
NEMA 7 and 9 enclosures are perfect when the application requires equipment rated for Class I Groups C & D and Class II Groups E, F & G div. I and II environment. Despite a hostile environment, the Safe and Secure built in this explosion-proof enclosure can get the job done and lower the overall risk factor of the installation.
Safe & Secure Series is available in 115Vac, 230Vac, 12Vdc, 24Vdc, and 24Vac operating voltages to guarantee electrical compatibility and reliability with any process control around the world. It is equipped with 300 series stainless steel output shaft and heavy duty spur gear drive which, as in all ICI electric actuators, can withstand stall conditions without suffering gear failure.

Internal Battery Back-Up Actuators
Internal battery backup actuators are a type of failsafe electric actuator used in rotary applications. These actuators are relied upon in all industrial applications that require a valve or damper to move to a predetermined fail-safe position in the event of power failure, allowing for valve control in an emergency or other shut down situations.
Actuators equipped with internal battery backup systems work by using an internal trickle charger to continuously charge a sealed lead acid battery during normal operation. When the system detects loss of utility power to the actuator, stored energy in the battery is used to drive the actuator to the preconfigured home or safe position. Upon restoration of power, the valve or damper is automatically returned to the normal operating position without further required action from the operator.
These failsafe electric actuators equipped with backup batteries are available in a variety of voltages to meet different customer voltage requirements including 115vac, 230vac 1ph, 12vdc, 24vdc, and 24vac. Batteries are located inside the actuator housing, making these actuators more compact than comparable spring return actuators, and actuators utilizing external battery backup systems. This makes them an ideal solution for situations where installation space is limited.

ICI Safe & Secure (SNS) Series
The Indelac Controls Inc. (ICI) Safe & Secure Series of fail-safe electric actuators couples the durability of high-quality American made actuators with the reliability of an integrated power supply. Our actuators are easily field adjustable to three preconfigured setting types:

  1. Fail Closed: Switches the valve or damper to the closed position when power loss is detected.
  2. Fail Open: Switches the valve or damper to the open position when power loss is detected.
  3. Run: Leaves the valve in an operating state when power loss is detected.

These settings give operators full range of control to ensure the safety of ongoing operations and minimize damage to equipment, and mitigate the risk of a spill. We also offer a variety of models to fit a comprehensive range of torque requirements:

  • SNS4 (400 in. lb. torque)
  • SNS6 (675 in. lb. torque)
  • SNS10 (1,000 in. lb. torque)
  • SNS15 (1,500 in. lb. torque)
  • SNS20 (2,000 in. lb. torque)
  • SNS28 (2,800 in. lb. torque)

At ICI, one of the core design elements integrated into each of our actuators is compatibility. Our Safe & Secure Series is available in a range of models to meet operating standards across multiple exposure environments around the world. ICI’s battery back-ups are available in:

  • AC versions capable of both 115VAC & 230VAC
  • DC versions capable of both 12VDC & 24VDC
  • 24VAC versions

Our line of actuator units come in a standard NEMA 4 enclosure for protection against external contaminants such as water, dust, and dirt. NEMA 4X housing options is available offering corrosions resistance during operation outdoors. NEMA 7 enclosures can be selected if the actuator units are to be subjected to hazardous locations and explosive environments.

Additional corrosion-resistant coatings – such as anodizing, epoxy coating, electroless nickel plating, and chromium conversion coatings – can be applied to the housing unit for operations subject to high concentrations of corrosive agents.
