DC measurement for energy storage: to 2000 VDC
Featured Product from Knick Interface LLC
Energy storage with battery and hydrogen technology is critical for growth and continuous development of some important industries. Without efficient ways to store DC energy, it would be virtually impossible to match up demand from intermittent loads like electric vehicles with supply from intermittent energy production sources like solar and wind. This makes the performance of energy storage very important, as uptime and speed are both necessary to ensure that energy can be stored when produced, and delivered when needed.
DC voltages continue to be pushed higher to keep up with advances within the industries they support, now in excess of 1500 VDC. To help ensure performance, quality instrumentation must be utilized to measure and control DC voltage within energy storage systems.

Knick's P42000D2 DC voltage transducer has proven successful in energy storage monitoring and testing applications. It provides the capability to measure DC voltages to 2000 VDC, while converting to standard output signals, (i.e., 0...10 VDC or 4... 20 mA). Full transformer-based galvanic isolation is provided for all 3 channels, (input, output, and power supply) with continuous isolation to 2200 VDC. Other specifications, such as cutoff frequency between 10 Hz and 5 kHz and response time (T90) of 110 microseconds, bring peace of mind to effective monitoring of energy storage system performance. Flexibility is provided by way of P42000D2's 45mm wide, din-rail mountable housing and its universal power supply (20-253 V AC/DC).
