WHAT IS A "TYPE C" THERMOCOUPLE?

Some of the more common thermocouple "types" you hear of are, "Type K", "Type J", and maybe even "Type T".

Each thermocouple "type" has its own temperature range, accuracy limitations, and can be applicaiton specific.

A "Type K" thermocouple is probably the most commonly used for general purpose applications, and "Type T" can often be found in most cryogenic applications.

But... where does the "Type C" fit into all of this?

"Type C" thermocouples are used for EXTREMELY high temperatures which can exceed 2,000°C ...

To put that into perspective, the surface of the sun is roughly 5,000°C

Not only can "Type C" thermocouples be used for very hot temperatures, its accuracy rating is ±1.0% or 4.5°C (whichever is greater) which is VERY accurate considering its wide temperature range!

The A12 Series by Nanmac Corporation is a line of "Type C" thermocouples which use 24 AWG wire for fast response times and can come with Molybdenum, Tantulum, Zirconia, Alumina or Quartz sheaths with a standard length of 12" (but can be made to any other length).
