Vishay has upgraded its VSOP383xx series of preamplifier circuits for infrared (IR) remote control applications with the new Cyllene 2 IC. Designed for use in consumer electronics such as televisions, soundbars, video game systems, and set-top boxes (STBs), these enhanced devices provide improved sensitivity and noise immunity for more reliable remote control functionality.

The new VSOP383xx series offers a wider supply voltage range from 2.0 V to 5.5 V, 37% higher dark-ambient sensitivity, and increased resistance to disturbances from DC light and Wi-Fi noise. This ensures superior performance even in challenging environments with high levels of electrical interference. With their compact 2 mm × 2 mm × 0.76 mm QFN package, these preamplifiers help save space in mobile and portable devices while extending battery life through low power consumption.

Built as drop-in, plug-and-play replacements for existing models, the updated VSOP383xx series eliminates the need for PCB redesigns, reducing costs and simplifying upgrades. The components also offer high immunity to ripple noise on the supply voltage and reduced susceptibility to EMI from 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies, allowing placement near Wi-Fi antennas for increased design flexibility. Their robustness under bright sunlight further enables outdoor applications.

RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green, the VSOP383xx series is available with carrier frequencies of 36 kHz (VSOP38336) and 38 kHz (VSOP38338). For more information, contact New Yorker Electronics at 201-750-1171 or email sales@newyorkerelectronics.com.
