Construction:

• Stationary silver contact is riveted with the ceramic cover plate.
• Movable contact is welded to a cross-shaped spring disc.
• Bimetal disc is mounted on the spring disc through the movable contact.
• Current flows from the stationary silver contact to the movable contact, then through the spring disc to the conductive housing.

Function:

• Normal Operation: Movable contact maintains contact with stationary contact under spring pressure.
• Overtemperature: Bimetal disc deforms under heat, flips, and pushes down the spring disc, opening the contact and interrupting the circuit.
• Cooling: As temperature drops, the bimetal disc and spring disc return to their original positions, closing the contact and restoring circuit continuity.
