TORAYCA® carbon fiber and composite materials are proven solutions for the demanding and competitive nature of sports and recreational applications. Our materials take athletic equipment to new levels by enhancing performance and strength while reducing weight over conventional materials.

The greatest aspect of carbon composites is versatility. From tent and trekking poles, backpack support, and even exoskeletal framework, carbon composites are a perfect fit when there is a need to travel light. Lightness and weight economy in component parts provide for a smooth cycling experience for the city commuter and cross-country adventurer, while strength and high impact resistance allow equipment to take hard hits and push potential to new limits.

Typical products include:

  • Golf club shafts
  • Commercial and game fishing rods
  • Windsurfing equipment
  • Bicycle components
  • Skiing equipment
  • Tennis racquets
  • High-performance marine crafts

Our carbon fiber is also the choice for America’s Cup sailboats.

Our carbon fibers offer superior quality & performance
Toray’s TORAYCA® brand carbon fiber is globally recognized for its outstanding performance, quality, and consistency in processing.
Toray is the world’s first commercial manufacturer of polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fibers, since 1971, and Toray Composite Materials America, Inc., has been producing TORAYCA® carbon fibers in Decatur, Alabama, since 1999, and recently expanded to Spartanburg, South Carolina, as well. Toray is the largest carbon fiber manufacturer in the world with a global capacity of 29,100 metric tons per year of TORAYCA® carbon fiber produced in the United States, Japan, France, and South Korea.

While originating as primarily an aerospace material, cost-effective TORAYCA® carbon fibers are used today in a wide variety of industrial and recreational applications as well. A full portfolio of carbon fiber products are offered, including standard-modulus, intermediate-modulus, and high-modulus fibers with a range of material properties.
