   Distillation       Distillation is a process in which a liquid or vapor mixture of two or more substances is separated into its component fractions of desired purity, by the application and removal of heat. Distillation is used in various industial applications to recover raw materials that would other wise be wasted. 
   Liquid-Liquid Extraction       Liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) is often used to effect a chemical separation when distillation by itself is not feasible. 
   Absorption       Absorbtion passes waste gases through scrubbing towers where it comes in contact with water spray, thereby recovering the solvent from the stream into a water-solvent mixture. 
   Adsorption       Absorbtion passes waste gases through scrubbing towers where it comes in contact with oil spray, thereby recovering the solvent from the stream into a oil-solvent mixture. 
   Steam Stripping       Steam stripping uses rising steam to heat up and carry away lighter, more volitile organics from a water supply stream.

   Azeotropic       An azeotropic mixture is a constant boiling point mixture, preventing it from being separated by standard distillation techniques. This system can separate difficult mixtures. 
   Batch       Batch distillation heats a mixture to remove a volatile compound via vaporization, which is collected and condensed as a purified distillate. 
   Continuous       The principles of continous distillation are the same as batch distilation, but the system is designed to have a constant input mixture and constant output of distillate. 
   Fractional       Fractional distillation is a form of continous distillation that separates complex mixtures into separate parts or fractions. Fractional distillation requires tall towers with different fractions are separated by most volitile or lightest fraction on top, and least volitile or heaviest fraction on the bottom. 
   Vacuum Assisted       Vacuum-assisted distillation is a form of distillation performed under vaccuum, which lowers the boiling point of the mixture components.
