News from Staubli Corporation

Duncan, SC -- 3/7/07 – Stäubli Robotics ( manufacturers of innovative and technologically advanced industrial, painting and cleanroom robots announces the development of a new plastics application software interface; “VALPlast”. VALPlast software is a PC based HMI user-interface specifically designed for easy programming and operation of Stäubli robots used for plastic injection-molding applications. VALPlast software minimizes the application learning curve and set-up time featuring step-by-step scenario building prompts for fast program creation. This enables even the most inexperienced operators to become operational and productive with a minimal amount of training. The main production features of VALPlast are I/O management, Euromap/SPI standard interface, production interface with 3 user levels, a palletizing module, programming of scenario via predefined functions, and open architecture to external VAL3 programs. “The automation of injection molding machines is a growing trend in the plastic-processing industry with ever-increasing demands on flexibility and productivity. Stäubli Robotics has always been on the leading edge of innovation with its technologically advanced robots and control systems to address these needs. This dedicated software tool only reinforces the Stäubli’ commitment of providing the most advanced and simplistic robot systems to meet every unique challenge,” says Mr. Gerald Vogt, Division Manager at Stäubli Robotics. Today, Stäubli offers the widest range of 4 and 6 axis robots with payloads ranging from 1kg to 230kg, and from 450mm to 3200mm of reach, all controlled from a common PC based controller platform. The company will be showcasing its robots along with VALPlast at the upcoming NPE show June 19-23 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois booth #1485. Robot production is centered south of Geneva in the French Alps, with facilities across Europe, North and South America and the Far and Middle East. In 1982, Stäubli Robot Division, based in Faverges, S.E. France, made the strategic decision to diversify into robotics, beginning with the affiliation of US Company Unimation (a pioneer in industrial robotics). It launched the large SCARA RS robot range in 1987, acquired Unimation in 1988 and launched its RX range of robots in 1992. Today with the addition of the new RS SCARA series from a recent acquisition of the Bosch Rexroth robot line, the newly developed TX series, and RX heavy payload robots, Stäubli has the broadest robot line on the market. Thousands of Stäubli robots have now been installed worldwide and the company currently boasts 32 sales and service subsidiaries in 24 countries and agents in over 50 countries.
