For home appliances, compressors, pumps, industrial drives, etc. implementing variable speed motor drive technology is the preferred method to increase overall efficiency. Mitsubishi Electric intelligent power modules (IPM) are a highly integrated, reliable and efficient way to implement variable speed control over a wide variety of motor drive applications while also enabling fast time to market for end products.
In this presentation, we explore the benefits of Mitsubishi Electric intelligent power modules including DIPIPM™, DIPIPM+™ and the G1 Series IPMs. We compare the IPM solution to a similar solution using discrete devices, and discuss the pros and cons of each. Additionally, information about the underlying 7th generation Mitsubishi Electric IGBT and diode technology will be presented, along with details about the high reliability packaging used to create the devices, and design tools available to facilitate designs utilizing these devices.
