Overview

As virtually all mechanical systems move to a more mechatronic design, real-time simulation of mechatronic systems has been widely used to define relevant parameters, tune responses and define control theory. However, using these within a hardware/software/human-in-the -loop system is difficult due to the lag in computing response to inputs. Real-time responses are required to adequately study these systems. What about the mechanical system? How can we add a real time behavior of a mechanical system to more accurately represent the varying performance of complex mechanical components?

This presentation provides an introduction to mechanical system modeling using multi-body dynamics techniques, and how we can selectively reduce the complexity of these models to perform in a real time environment, with minimal degradation of their fidelity. Attendees will see use cases of how this model is being implemented by system developers to improve product development.
