Overview

The energy infrastructure market with applications like solar inverters, energy storage systems, EV charging Stations, and uninterruptable power supplies is undergoing a transition due to increasing level of working voltage and new wide band gap power semiconductors. This raises the need for isolation products that can support the new requirements of those changes.

Broadcom and our wide selection of isolations products are able to address the isolation requirement of different power converters that are used in energy storage systems, such as AC/DC, DC/AC and DC/DC converters. We offer SiC MOSFET and Si IGBT gate drivers with output current ratings up to 10A, high precision isolation amplifiers and modulators for current/voltage sensing, single/multi-channel digital optocouplers capable of speed up to 50MBd and industrial fiber optics for communication links in these applications.

Saeed Safari has been a field application engineer for industrial products (e.g. isolators, encoders, fiber optics) at Broadcom since 2017. He has been instrumental in setting many new designs and initiatives that helped grow Broadcom's industrial product business in Europe. His power electronics experience includes the design of direct SiC AC/AC converters for power distribution networks, and DC/DC and AC/DC power electronic converters for the automotive industry. Safari holds a Ph.D in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Nottingham, U.K.
