Rapid and Reliable Pipeline Leak Detection

Pipelines are among the safest and most efficient means of transport available. For this reason, leak monitoring systems are a necessary part of their safety concept. This webinar delves into the fundamental principle of the E-RTTM method for rapid and reliable leak detection, showing the potential of the system by way of a sample case taken from the chemical industry.

Overview

Demand for pipeline leak detection and location systems is increasing rapidly. Unfortunately, general knowledge about these systems is limited and the view that these systems 'will only detect catastrophic leaks' or 'give false alarms all the time' is still heard regularly. This view may be the result of bad experience in the past, unrealistic expectations, or a combination of the two.

Attendees of this presentation will discover the differences between common leak detection systems and a leak detection system that combines several API 1130 technologies into one system. In particular, they will learn about Krohne's PipePatrol E-RTTM method for rapid and reliable leak detection. Field data will demonstrate the capabilities of this model-supported, statistical classification method in a real-world, operational environment. Participants will understand that modern leak detection systems do allow leak detection without false alarms on liquid and even on gas pipelines operated in dynamic (transient) conditions.

Key Takeaways

  • Learn about API1130 leak detection methods
  • Discover the difference between basic leak detection and high fidelity systems
  • Understand key factors for seamless implementation and successful operation
