What are some of the applications you have used epoxy adhesives for?

Climbing equipment design and manufacture, masonry repair, 'in field' kit repair. Design and manufacture of models and maquetes. I wrote the British Mountaineering Club handbook section on repairs in field and included advice for up to 3 different brands of widely available epoxy's for different applications.

1. PC7 or J-B Weld with 318 course stainless steel wool mixed in, to mount 1/4-20 inserts in "bottomless" holes in concrete and brick columns. 2. JB-Weld to fill in holes where rusted 1/4-20 set screws had to be ground out with a Dremel tungsten-carbide burr. The holes were then re-drilled and re-tapped.

Epoxy adhesive can be used not only as a glue to fix. It can be used as to form a shell while spread over a plaster with glass fiber ( then remove the forming) or to use it to shape exact angle while filling the gap in a temporally structure etc.

Answers:
Take a cast from broken plastic parts (with waxy coating) and from its cast, re-make the parts. While repairing the broken machine, use epoxy to find the exact position of the bearing (while the shaft is rotating and epoxy is re-heated and made the bearing to settle into a metal box ------ once hardened, then reinforce the fixture of the bearing).

Fuel tank repair with standard Araldite is not recommended but worked well with adequate mixing and with heat applied throughout the curing time. Polycarbonate spectacle lenses: easy to get an invisible joint line but difficult to control overspill on the surface.

If it was used somewhere in electric----- epoxy melted when electric component heated up which is not expected ----- as the parts moved and made short-circuit and so on.
