Set Up a PID Without the Math
It's as easy as one, two, three. Rule number one: Do the P, I, and D adjustments one at a time. Start with Proportional gain, which controls how quickly the controlled variable reaches the setpoint. Then go on to Integral time to tame oscillations. Finally the Derivative can guide the process to the setpoint without overshoot.
