Improving Efficiency, Fourth Edition

Although people may complain that there is ineffective or inefficient communication within their organization this is rarely because there is insufficient information. Generally speaking there is more than enough information made available to us every day. We are bombarded with images, ideas, suggestions and news.
For information to be a valid and reliable resource it should be:
accurate and complete
sufficient and available at a time when it can support decision-making and problem-solving processes
formatted in a way which suits the needs of the recipient, for example paper-based or electronic
easy to access and retrieve.
15 mins
Identify three items of information which are essential to the work processes in your area of responsibility. For each of these briefly explain:
where/who it comes from
how you receive the information
what you use it for
any problems you have experienced in relation to this information (consider the list above) and possible ways of solving them.
